This wonderful, antique Bedlington Terrier dog figurine displays both the affectionate and intelligent nature of this fabulous breed.
Oscar Morten immigrated from Sweden to the U.S. and opened a giftware studio in 1931 in Chicago. Over the next 32 years, he created over 300 popular dog and horse models. Composed of ceramic over a metal skeleton, these figurines, although beautifully engaging, were prone to crazing and flaking, thus making it difficult, today, to find examples in perfect condition.
This very realistic-looking Bedlington Terrier dog figurine is in excellent, flawless condition. He also has his original foil label.
He is a wonderful example of this designer’s art, with extraordinary detailing, especially in his expressive open-mouth smile.
He measures 4 3/4″ tall x 6 1/2″ long x 2 1/4″ wide.
He is the perfect, often hard-to-find addition to your Mortens Studio Canine Collection, and one of the most beautiful examples of this breed as an antique figurine.
