This antique English Cocker Spaniel figurine was created by Mortens Studio in the 1930’s – 1940’s.
Standing 5″ tall x 7 1/2″ long x 2 1/2″ wide, she displays both the athletic build of a working dog and the elegant posture of a show dog.
She is in excellent, flawless condition.
The designer of this figurine, Oscar Morten, immigrated from Sweden to the U.S. and opened a gift ware studio in Chicago in 1931. Over the next 32 years, he created over 300 popular dog and horse models. Composed of ceramic over a metal skeleton, these figurines, although beautiful and engaging, were prone to crazing and flaking, thus making it difficult, today, to find examples in perfect condition.
This beautiful English Cocker Spaniel is the perfect addition to any English Cocker Spaniel collection.
She would also make a wonderful gift to any Cocker Spaniel lover. Her exquisite liver and white coloring, and the abundance of fur lines, makes her look so realistic.
