Mortens Studio Doberman Pinscher Dog Figurine

This intelligent, and fearless dog is reclining and shown off impeccably with a wonderfully detailed head and face, and  a sleek body, done in a high gloss finish.

This fabulous “Dobie” measures a full 4 1/4″ tall x 8″ long x 3 1/4″ wide.

The designer of this figurine, Oscar Morten, immigrated from Sweden to the U.S. and opened a giftware studio in Chicago in 1931. Over the next two decades, he created over 300 popular dog and horse models. Composed of ceramic over a metal skeleton, these figurines, although beautiful and engaging, were prone to crazing and flaking, thus making it difficult, today, to find examples in perfect condition.
