This wonderful Pekingese dog figurine was created by Mortens Studio in the 1930’s – 1940’s.
One of the larger Mortens Studio figurines, she measures a full 4″ tall x 5″ long x 1 3/4″ wide , and she is in excellent, flawless condition.
The designer of this figurine, Oscar Morten, immigrated from Sweden to the U.S. and opened a gift ware studio in Chicago in 1931. Over the next two decades, he created over 300 popular dog and horse models. Composed of ceramic over a metal skeleton, these figurines, although beautiful and engaging, were prone to crazing and flaking, thus making it difficult, today, to find examples in perfect condition.
With her wide-eyed Pekingese face, this dog is also the perfect desktop “friend”, guaranteed to make you smile!
She would also make a wonderful gift to any Pekingese lover, but we caution you that once you see her, she will be quite difficult to give away!
