This fabulous Pink Elephant Cocktail shaker was manufactured by the Hazel-Atlas Glass Company in the late 1930’s through the early 1940’s.
The Hazel-Atlas Glass Company (1887-1964) manufactured large quantities of Depression Glassware.
This cocktail shaker, with its gorgeous brass top, stands apart from the general chrome-topped shakers of the time, making a rare collector’s piece.
This whimsical design of dancing pink elephants, reminds one of the expression “seeing pink elephants” which is a euphemism for having alcoholic hallucinations.
It was created in the early 1940’s and based on the 1941 Disney movie “Dumbo”, in which the main character, Dumbo the elephant, after accidentally drinking champagne, experiences a bizarre and colorful dream sequence of “Pink Elephants on Parade”.
Measuring a full 11 1/2″ tall and 4 1/2″ in diameter, this vintage, Art Deco cocktail shaker is in mint condition.
It is a rare and wonderful addition to any home bar, and a fabulous holiday gift!
