Capture a moment of pure feline grace with this rare Rosenthal porcelain kitten. Designed by the legendary animal sculptor Theodor Kärner, this exquisite figurine depicts a kitten in a lifelike crawling pose, its body low to the ground in a playful, inquisitive stalk.
The craftsmanship is breathtaking, featuring the fine Selb porcelain Rosenthal is famous for, dating specifically to the early 1940s. This rare bi-color kitten is finished with a luminous high-gloss glaze and features rich walnut-brown patches on the head and tail, beautifully contrasting against its pristine white coat. The attention to detail is remarkable, from the delicate pink nose to the alert eyes and the fine, hand-painted ‘fur’ brushstrokes characteristic of the Theodor Kärner era.
Measuring 2 1/2″ tall x 6 1/4″ long x 3 1/4″ wide, it is in excellent condition. Please note that it is missing one of the round, felt pads on its underside, that were put there by its previous owner.
This is a truly exquisite acquisition for the serious Rosenthal collector, representing a masterful intersection of mid-century German art and a heartwarming study of a kitten’s natural movement.
