This vintage blue Delirium elephant beer tray is quite a unique find.
It was created by the Huygle Brewery in Brussels, Belgium, to market a particularly strong ale on December 26th, 1988. The name “Delirium”, which in Latin means “trembling madness,” was chosen to highlight the beer’s potency.
The actual logo of this brewery, also known as the “Brewery of the Pink Elephant”, was a pink elephant on a blue tray. So to see a Delirium tray with a white elephant is very unusual.
Likewise, the history of this particular ale includes its original commission by a group of Italian beer enthusiasts…also unusual for a beer made in Belgium.
This circular tray measures 14″ across and it is 2″ deep. On the front it is in near perfect condition, with only a few slight marks on the elephant. The bottom does show signs of its age, with some rust in spots along the bottom rim, and some scratching on the underside. This does not affect its beauty as a display piece, or its use to carry glasses or bottles of your favorite beer.
